Grant Brook Sanctuary Inventory
Saturday, June 6th, 7 - 11am
Grant Brook Sanctuary, River Rd., Lyme, NH

This is a cooperatively conserved area in Lyme. The Lyme Conservation Commission, Upper Valley Land Trust and NH Audubon teamed up to conserve the area. The Mascoma Chapter of the NH Audubon has decided to take the area up for their chapter Sanctuary project. The Mascoma Chapter will survey and catalog the plants, animals, birds, insects, etc. here. This walk will include the lower field along the river and on the other side of the road, some moderately steep sections part way up the hill. The group will meet at the single lane bridge at Grant Brook on River Road in Lyme (.6 miles from the cross road between East Thetford, VT and Lyme, NH). There is parking along the road at a couple of pull offs, so carpool if you can. For more information please contact Becky Cook at mascomabirds@yahoo.com.

Community Hike and 15-year Anniversary Celebration,
Saturday, June 6th, 9:30 - 10:30am
Wright's Mountain Trailhead, Bradford, VT

UVLT will be present at this celebration of Wright's Mountain's conservation, hosted by the Bradford Conservation Commission. Refreshments, Music and Ribbon-Cutting to open a new 1/2 mile trail called "Appreciation Way", dedicated to all the volunteers who have helped build and maintain trails and made this beautiful land more accessible to people of all ages. "Appreciation Way" meanders away from the main Wright's MT Trail, through an evergreen stand and gradually up though a hardwood forest to a ridgeline plateau that offers distant views of Corinth to the West and NH mountains to the East. It rejoins the Wright's MT Trail for the final ascent to the cabin, which is perched at Bradford's highest point. (Easy to Moderate)2009 marks the 15th year since Wright's MT was purchased from the Appleton Family and was conserved for the public's use FOREVER. 5th Annual Devil's Den Celebration

Devil's Den parking area on Chase Hollow Road, Bradford, VT

This event will mark the 5-year anniversary of Devil's Den being conserved. Cook-out, live music, campfire, stories, guided hikes. Bear Pond Walk
Saturday, June 20th, 2 - 5pm
Bear Pond Natural Area, Canaan, NH

Enhancing Small Scale Habitats: Grasslands, Shrublands and Vernal Pools

Small scale habitats provide critical habitat for some of New Hampshire's imperiled wildlife species such as marbled salamanders, black racers, grasshopper sparrows, and New England cottontails. Enhancing these habitats helps maintain the biological diversity in the state; the goal of the Wildlife Action Plan. Fish and Game's Emily Brunkhurst will explain how to identify these habitats on your property and how to maintain and enhance these habitats through management and maintaining buffers.
