Celebration and Annual Meeting 2008

The public is invited to join members and supporters of the Upper Valley Land Trust (UVLT) at its annual meeting on Thursday, May 8, in the Dartmouth Skiway’s McLane Family Lodge in Lyme Center, New Hampshire.

3:00 - optional hike to Holt’s Ledge, known for its extensive views and as a nesting site for peregrine falcon. (weather permitting)
Hikers will meet at 3:00 pm the Holt’s Ledge Trail trailhead at the intersection of Dorchester Road just north of the Skiway lodge. You may park at the lodge and the trailhead is about an 8-10 minute walk down the road. At the end of the hike, we will likely be coming down one of the ski trails just opposite the lodge so that we can go directly to the festivities. If you prefer, you may park at the trailhead and gather your vehicle at the end of the hike. The trail is a little muddy in a few places, particularly on the way down, but it all washes off! See you then!

5:00 – social hour with appetizers, cash bar and conservation displays. The locally owned Norwich Bookstore will host a booth of favorite titles picked by UVLT staff. Guests can bid on “Gifts from the Land”—farm raised, handmade, and nature inspired items in a silent auction.

6:00 - a casual buffet dinner*, prepared by The Farmer’s Diner of Quechee, Vermont, will include items from Vermont and New Hampshire farms and producers.

*For dinner reservations ($15.00 per ticket), contact Lorie Hood at the UVLT office: (603) 643-6626 or email Lorie Hood

7:00 - The theme of “home-grown and local” extends to the after-dinner hour. Conservation volunteers will be recognized during the business meeting, followed by a program of acoustic music. Celebrated singers Geoff Dates and Tim Travers, former members of “The Wilder Singers” and “Upstream,” will be joined by Jed Dickinson, Kerry Rosenthal, and Pat Sager. From lush five-part harmony sung a cappella to lively fiddle tunes, the group will perform music that carries a message of conservation and invites reflection on our place in the natural world. Everyone is invited to join in the fun of community music-making during the second set.
