February 27, 2008 Join us on February 27 in Montpelier to speak with legislators about the importance of the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board. Governor Douglas has proposed a 30 percent cut in funding for the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board. Hundreds of units of affordable housing and dozens of farmland conservation projects are at risk. • The Vermont Housing and Conservation Board has helped the people of the Upper Valley conserve more than 40 farms. • The Vermont Housing and Conservation Board has provided funding to purchase Wright’s Mountain, in Bradford; several sections of the Ascutney Trail, and Lake Runnemede in Windsor. • Grants from the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board protected 120 acres of farmland and secured 14 acres for single family affordable housing at Farrell Farm in Norwich. Vermont's generation-old policy of sustained investment in building permanently affordable housing and saving the working lands that support our economy has proven its value time and time again.
