LEGISLATIVE DAY

February 27, 2008

Montpelier, Vermont

Join us on February 27 in Montpelier

to speak with legislators about the importance of the

Vermont Housing and Conservation Board.

Governor Douglas has proposed a 30 percent cut in funding for the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board.

Hundreds of units of affordable housing and dozens of farmland conservation projects are at risk.

• The Vermont Housing and Conservation Board has helped the people of the Upper Valley conserve more than 40 farms.

• The Vermont Housing and Conservation Board has provided funding to purchase Wright’s Mountain, in Bradford; several sections of the Ascutney Trail, and Lake Runnemede in Windsor.

• Grants from the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board protected 120 acres of farmland and secured 14 acres for single family affordable housing at Farrell Farm in Norwich.

Vermont's generation-old policy of sustained investment in building permanently affordable housing and saving the working lands that support our economy has proven its value time and time again.

We can’t afford to change our priorities now.
