Guidelines for Campsite Use
UVLT campsites are available on a first-come-first-served basis; reservations are not accepted. To allow all paddlers to have a wonderful camping experience we ask that you follow these guidelines:
|
|
Landowners have generously made these campsites available for canoe and kayak access only -- land based access is prohibited.
Please limit your stay to two nights per site. Set up your camp on your day of arrival, not in advance. This will allow other paddlers to share in the enjoyment of these campsites.
Please limit the area you occupy so others may share the campsite.
In the event that campsites are full and you must find an alternate place to camp for the night, please request permission from the landowner.
On your departure date, break camp in the morning to allow other campers to see the site is available.
To help us to monitor usage, please register.
Minimize Your Impact
To ensure a good camping experience for all users, please minimize your impact on the river and its shorelands. Because river banks are prone to erosion, avoid climbing on exposed or steep banks.
Contain all of your activity within the designated campsite area.
Respect the capacity of the sites (listed in the campsite descriptions).
Carry in/Carry out: UVLT relies on volunteers to maintain these campsites. Please leave each campsite in better shape than you found it. Report problems to UVLT at 603-643-6626.
Use a portable stove for cooking. Fires are forbidden at some sites. Where permitted, keep them small; never cut live trees. If you choose to make a fire, please do so in the fire ring provided and use only downed and dead wood.
Use the privies provided.
Do not wash in or near the river. All washing should be done at least 75' from the river.
Noise carries easily on the river. Enjoy the solitude, leave your radio/CD player at home.
For Your Safety:
Each boat must carry a Coast Guard approved personal floatation device for each person.
River flows are regulated and water levels can fluctuate several feet during the course of any day or night. Always secure your boat, don't simply "beach" it. For river flow forecasts call USGen New England's toll-free hot line: 1-800-452-1737, or follow this link.
Don't drink untreated river water.
To report boating safety concerns, contact the Marine Patrol toll free within NH: (877) 642-9700, or outside NH call (603) 293-2037.
